What if FRBs' progenitors are slow rotating magnetar?

Luo, Rui

Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are enigmatic radio transients of which the emission mechanisms and progenitors remain unclear. Recently, an emerging hypothesis posits that FRBs are bright coherent emission events occurring within the large emission beam of slowly rotating NSs, e.g., magnetars or "dormant" pulsars with ultra-long spin periods. In this talk, I will be presenting the general picture of FRBs originating from slow-rotating magnetars and discuss the observational facts that can be interpreted under the framework. More targeted observations on active FRB repeaters, long-period pulsars/transients are called for, in order to unveil the wide emission beam hidden from the sporadic bright single pulses.
